"Animals and birds are ever present in our lives whether they live free or as pets. They offer inspiration, love, guidance, comfort and are, often, a source of great humour. They arrive into my paintings in much the same manner: unannounced, uninvited, unexpected but always appreciated. Birds are often personified as 'messengers of the gods' and animals as 'spirit totems'.  As in life, each animal or bird in a painting has it's own personality whether stylized or realistic."
